Default SMC question weird problem

ok, the car runs ALRIGHT, but still feels like it's missing. no codes. here's the weird thing. the only way the car will run and idle is to turn the fuel correction to 0%. WTF???? I have 450cc DSMs. how can this be? do I have the RPM wire on the SMC hooked up wrong?

sounds like bad wiring. double check your wiring and get back to us.

well. I think my wiring is screwy too. I need to know what color wire I am looking for for the white RPM wire on the SMC to connect to. mind you that I have a 98 GSR. should I hook it to the blue distributor wire?

alright. no different using the blue dizzy wire instead of the yellow/green ignition wire at the SMC like the instructions said. I took the SMC off, and COMPLETELY started over with the wiring. nice and neat, triple checked. soldered, heat shrink tubed, the whole nine yards. still no go. DAMNIT. still, the only way I can keep her running, and reasonably smoothly at that is with the SMC set to 0% correction. this still makes NO sense whatsoever. at 0%, the car shouldn't even run. man am I going to be pissed off if I have to swap out the injectors, and take her back to stock again. don't supposed something is screwy with the resistor box or the injectors? I unplugged each injector, and it just made it run a bit rougher each time.

let me get this resistor box wiring thing right.. ok, the four black wires on the box go to each positive wire going to the injectors. done. the one red wire connects to the 5 remaining power wires coming from that harness. right?

Get rid of it. My personal experience has been nothing but bad news! I have checked the wires at lest 10 times, all soldered and properly grounded. Good luck but for 100 bucks you get what you paid for!

are you useing the button to hold the settings? Try setting it to zero, push the button and then try to adjust it from there. but make sure you are using the set button. let us know.

yeah, I'm using the device properly. I adjust it then press the program button. I know the device is doing something, because like I said, if I up the correction % more than maybe 12% then when I press the program button, the car goes nuts and dies. I put my stock FPR back on just to check. no better. I've either got bad injectors, a bad SMC or something screwy with the resistor box. I just can't seem to narrow it down. DAMNIT.

i think that it may be the SMC, for the simple fact that when you hit the program button, it should hold the settings and not freak out. Talk to Zip and see if you can send it to him to take a look at and possible replacement of the unit. He is a nice guy he will help you out. what were you using before the SMC?

no, the SMC is fine. it does what it is supposed to do. the reason it freaks out when I hit program is BECAUSE it is changing the settings. I just went out and realized that the DSM injectors SOME HOW SOME WAY are the same impedance as my stock injectors!!!! WTF???? I thought they were supposed to be low impedance models... so I unhooked the resistor box, and BAM. runs fine. I wasn't running anything before. actually, I don't even have the turbo on yet. I was trying to get ahead of the game by installing the SMC now. the only other thing is that even though it runs fine now, when I adjust the idle correction, no matter what setting I have it on, it still runs the same. is that normal?

shouldn't the engine want to stall if I put it on 0%?

Sure they are DSM 450's? The ohm's are more than 2.6?
Somethings not right with this picture!
