Default what motor to run??

what motor should i put in my 91 dx hatch? I would like to get at least 190WHP With bolt ons, cams, and a 75 shot zex nitrous kit. With this done and the right tuning what WHP should i beable to get and with what motor can i do this safe. I would like to stay pre obd or go to obd-1 if nesisary. If you know of a motor to get for this setup please let me know the specs also. I am looking for a real low 13 1/4 mile on stock internals if posible.

b16 isnt bad to build for turbo, but you can never go wrong with the power you can get out of a b18..

well if i got a B18 it would be the B18b and would not get vtec! I have been looking at the JDM B16a1 for a while but people keep saying that they lie about the miles and there is no way to know.

Even if they tell you the truth about the miles, it very likely has been beaten to hell. Most of these places give you a start-up warranty which doesnt mean crap once you get it. Some motors will start up but you can tell they are going to blow any second. Which is the reason a lot of these motors are for sale and not on someones car. I would go with a b18a/b (can be found for cheaper) and just get a vtec head later. I have raced my 5g hatch with an LS against a 5g hatch with a b16 and we were pretty even throughout the race. Im not saying it will turn out that way every time though.

Uhhh thats why you take the motor apart once you get it and change all the gaskets seals and bearings...Then the motor is just like new.

why would you say not to get vtec? a car with vtec and turbo will always beat a turbo without vtec if the cars had the same setups

yes it would but, the non-vtec person would have an extra $2000 in his pocket to buy other things. Thats enough money to make it faster than a vtec. Besides you can always buy a vtec head later.
