Default Slow spool time...help?!

So I finally got the turbo on today, and after realizing that i wasnt boosting because one of my charge pipes was all the way off , I finally took it out for a boosted run. Keep in mind it is currently open downpipe and can't hear anything going on in the engine bay. My turbo is spooling really slowly. It starts spooling at like 4k maybe and spools till 7 when it hits about 7psi (what the wg spring is). I have a t3/t04b. Now, after my searching i think it may just be an exhaust leak before the turbo, or maybe a vacuum leak. Anyone else remedy this problem? Also, is there a way for me to tell if my injectors are leaking? I see no gas, etc. leaking at idle or when i rev it, but i did smell gas at one point (maybe I'm just crazy. Thanks for the help guys.,

I have no idea...it could be a lot of things. I have a tial wastegate and when i turboed my car on for the 1st time...i smelled gas (burn off, prolly what u smelled.

Try hooking your wastegate to the manifold, instead of to the turbo, if not already done. mines spooled up like a ****...louder then the exhaust!!! then i blew a charge pipe and i heard it even louder.

the wastegate starts opening at 1 psi so you lose exhaust energy to spin the turbo, you can get a ebc that will cut spool time in half. but see if there is any leaks where the mani meats the head and turbo first.

i know that the boost controller will help the spool, but this seems a little out of the ordinary for spool time. your probably right about the leak though. ill have to check that when i get home (im at orientation for college wishing i was at home to fix it)

I think i diagnosed the problem. There is a leak between the manifold and the head. Anyone know of an easier way to tighten that nut in the middle, on the bottom on a drag manifold. That's the culprit right there and I can't tighten it down tight enough. Would something like this cause the problem? Also, I can't really hear my dsm bov, is there any way to really tell if it is workin??

hmm i put duct tape over the bov, and the noise i was hearing changed. so it must be the bov. The noise seems delayed, but boost drops off right after i release the pedal. is this a problem?
