turbo overspin?
whats up fellas, so i am re-doing my whole setup but to make a long story short i am switching from a ramhorn manifold to a topmount and i have to drive about 60 miles to my friends house to get the charge pipes done. under normal driving conditions would this overspin the turbo being as there is no charge pipes on it? also it is a brand new turbo, turbonetics tomzilla from camp1320. thanks in advance.

Re: turbo overspin? (whoneedzvtec)
if u absolutely have to, and there is no way around driving, remove the wastegate spring for external wastegate. that way the wastegate will
be open and as much exhaust gas as possible will bypass the turbine

Re: turbo overspin? (whoneedzvtec)
This poses a question that hopefully some of you more experienced turbo guys can answer. On two occasions, i've blown off the silicon coupler which just causes the turbo to spin out of control. When it happened, I was under WOT at the top of the rpm range. I knew what happened when I lost boost.
Everything seems normal after that and have since corrected the problem.
What are some of the consequences when this happens?
