Default Slick size for high hp...

After completing many searches, I am still not clear on what slick size I should be running.
To date I have been using a M/T 22x8x15 on my stock 15x6.5" wheels. I am constantly spinning the tires in 1st and 2nd...and am need of a slick/wheel upgrade.

I have access to multiple transmission/final drive setups, so please don't make advice based on mph or gearing. (I will take care of the gearing, etc.).

All I need to know is which size slick I should be running...and what will hold up to 500+ whp and give me the best traction.

I would appreciate 2 options:
1 with stock fenders in place (which can be rolled a little) and,
1 with severe fender modifications...

ps. 4th gen prelude chassis

Thanks

i dont believe you can fit the 13" wheel on a prelude brake setup.

with 15", you can go with a 24.5x8.5x15 setup.
will clear stock fenders.

with 1 piece front end or modified fenders, you can fit a 26x8x15

No, 13" won't go. And yes, I was thinking about either the 24.5x8.5, the 26x8.5 or the 26x10. I think both the 24.5x8.5 & 26x8.5 will still fit on the stock 6.5" rim, but I'm not sure whether i'll still have traction problems running the 24.5's.

Anybody have any experience with these slick sizes? Will I spin them with the 500+ whp?

I would not advise the 26x10. They are much too wide. I would do the new 25" slicks, if they are available in 15"--i know 13" but not sure on 15. Exospeed should be able to help you further on this, he sells a lot of slicks.

Anyone know if a 26x8.5 will fit in the stock wheelwell? I'm pretty sure the height will (cause I have run some 215/65/15's - junk winter tires) before...but the 8.5 could be pushing it...

I don't know much about this myself but I'm sure if you asked over at the drag racing forum you will find your answer. I always see similar posts to this over ther. HTH.

Ya...no luck over there, so I figure I'd probe the brains of the other hp cars on the Forced Induction site...

I dont know what your goals are, but just as a reminder, I believe the Prelude S's front brakes would allow you to clear 13" slicks. I know that atleast 14" rims fit, not sure about 13". Just something to look into if you REALLY wanted a smaller rim.

I know that my Lensos would not fit on a 93 Prelude VTEC with stock brakes for FYI. We tried on Brandon's car, no dice!

Yes...as mentioned earlier I will be running 15" rims. That will not change. What I am looking for input on is tire size.

As for goals...my goal is to no spin 1st through 3rd on slicks. If 26x8.5" will let me do that...then those are the tire for me; if not then I will have to go bigger! We'll let the timeslips do the rest of the talking...
