sleeves..would you step deck or O-ring?
As the bore becomes larger it becomes harder to fit an o-ring properly. Although we still use an o-ring, I'm leaning more toward a step deck.

So which seals better...or is it just a matter of what the bore will accommodate? What's the maximum bore you can have and still have room for O-rings? Can you do both, or will that make the deck to tall?
I wsas thinking abotu O-ringing it, but I would hate to kep on replacing teh rings when the head is off. The head gasket is enough already.
But anyways, it's a stock bore h22

I was also considering the step deck also. I had trouble with the last set of o-rings that were installed so now my block is torn down. I think step decking will lower the compression a bit also. correct?? if so how much do you estimate it will lower it??
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but if you're gonig step deck, you'd want to use a cometic head gasket, that is o-ringed...and if you're o-ringing the block you want to use a stock head gasket?
I dont beleive thats correct since I just had 2 blocks I sent and they said 84mm b16 is fine w/ an o-ring.
I guess things have changed. When GE sleeved my block back in september, i told them i was running 84mm bore and they told me anything above 83mm has no room for oring. That's exactly what Ted told me when i called him. Is it just me or is GE giving alot of different information? I also saw another post here somewhere about golden eagle not recommeding the cometic heagasket but back then when they didn't have there factory bored out gaskets, GE was recommending cometic headgasekt all the way. I've heard enough bad about the HP Cometics to say do not use them for any set-up. The MLS Cometics work great. I like the GE laser cut stock gaskets also.
Golden eagle automatically step decks, you have to request the o-ring. So they install an o-ring on top of the step deck. I just confirmed this talking to them this afternoon. I am sending out a gsr block to get sleeved and bored to 86mm for an all motor project, so i just went with the step deck.
