Sleeved JDM B16a? Pics
Hi guys,
I've recently bought a forged and supposedly sleeved b16a bottom end. I know very little about engine parts, I know how they work etc just haven't physically seen a naked bottom end so am unsure here (I've got a big learning curve ahead of me and no I won't post up every 5 seconds asking stupid questions, promise ).
Looking at other threads on H-T and other sites, sleeves can be easily visibly seen, however on my "sleeved" block, this is not the case.
I went and had a quick chat to the engine assembler today on my way home from work, he knew the block I was talking about but was hazy on the details as this was a good 4 years ago.
Supposedly my block has Golden Eagle sleeves, can anyone confirm this from the photos below? I'm not doubting the engine builder, or seller at all, I just want to know for peace of mind, as I won't be starting the actual build for a couple of months as I'm coming over to the states to visit a friend and do a roadtrip.
Any help appreciated!

Yup it's sleeved. On stock sleeves you can see the two seperate parts of the sleeves. Yours are all one piece. Boost away!! (After you tune of course)

Those probably are GE sleeves, although they might be the Goldzilla (older style) sleeve. I know they discontinued that style sleeve about 4-5 years ago. I don't remember the amount of boost you can run on those, but on the "HD" sleeve you can go up to 60-65 psi of boost.

They started to right when I got my block sleeved from them, let me think, about 4 years ago? So he might have gotten it done before they started engraving the blocks. (if they are benson)

those couldn't be godzilla sleeves. doesn't godzilla have the braces on the sides? I would think RS sleeves, bensons, or LA sleeve, or the old GE econo sleeves?...... in any thought, the sleeves look good. boost away!!!!

Thanks for that guys, after seeing photos on H-T and other sites you could visibly see the sleeves, which made me think, hang on? Just wanting to know for peace of mind as I say, I won't be starting the build for a couple of months yet.
Sleeving was done over here in N.Z by a local company. The block made 392wkw before it was rebuilt. Just found out my mate knows the original owner who had it built, so I'll talk to him and find out a bit more about the block and why it was rebuilt. I bought it off a reputable honda head who had the same intentions as me, however he is moving to the States in a few months so selling up.
Pistons are CP 9.0:1
I'm just hoping to break into the 300wkw club on 98 pump gas :D
Edit: While I'm at it with this thread, turbo-wise, what would be better suited for a track day (circuit racing) and street spec setup. I know 300wkw is complete overkill for circuit racing, but since i've got the bottom end to handle it, may as well go the bit extra for **** factor. I'm picking the GT3076R would be faster spooling and more responsive? Any others that are recommended that I should look into and do my research on?
I've done a bit of searching and come up with either:
- GT3076R
- GT3540R
Also any recommendations for quality performance car stores in L.A, mainly after genuine Tial wastegate, Tial BOV, and possibly some injectors if it's going to save me alot, as opposed to buying locally over here. Turbo I will buy locally for warranty reasons.
Cheers.

g0at how much horsepower is 300wkw? Also if its a 1.6 you will be much happier with the 3076, thats what i have and spool up is not too bad, a 35r will be very laggy...

Yep, after around 400-420hp at the treads. Sorry, forgot you guys don't use kilowatts .
Cheers for the input and help guys. I'll do some more researching for the rest of my setup.
Any recommended performance shops in L.A? Specifically a decent exhaust manifold, heard you guys are tops when it comes to manifolds (y)

Um, I have to say no to that.
THESE are 9:1 CP pistons (big dish, no dome), yours look more like 11:1. With a little bit of searching, I can point you to a thread where a "9:1" b16 blew up, and they turned out to be CTR pistons.

That could be sleeved by several different companies.
RS MAchines, Benson, etc. They either use Darton Sleeves or LA sleeves. Thats what you call an open deck sleeves.
