I think the SC61 will hold up fine. Precision usually makes good turbos....I usually don't hear of them being bad. If possibel you can even go with a SC63.

The SC 61 should work fine the turbo spooles very early, and i've even made as much as 615whp with that turbo.

With the Sc61, if you don't go with a vtec head, I would buy some cams/springs/retainers cause your powerband will be really short.
I have Crane cams/spring/retainer on a ported LS head with 7500rev limit. It push really hard on top end and it would love to rev up to 8k
I made 300whp 233tq on a mustang dyno at 15psi/91octane. With 22psi (1/4 time in the sig), I should be around 400whp.....125mph+2600lbs car.
But if you don't want more than 400whp, GT30R should be a good choice cause it will spool sooner than the Sc61.

What are u running now? 300whp seems alittle low for a pnp ls head at 15psi. I would think a regular ls would make those numbers at 15psi.
As sprayteg stated, if u don't have your rev limit up to 8K, that turbo is really must useless. Yes, it will make good top end but u wont see full boost until 6K. I would just go with the sc34 or a good t3/t4e 57 or 60 trim.

Ya 300 whp is low for 15 lbs on a sc61. But every car is different. And If his car is built right, you would EASILY see full boost before 6k.... Would be more like 5200-5500.
Im in the same dilema right now, Im not sure which turbo I wanna go with. If I want an insane whiplash top end, or a broad powerband. Im looking for 450 whp and about 350 whp around town. Im guessing with a 3" downpipe and exhaust it should spool pretty quickly, but right now Im only revving to 7500.
Does anyone have any experince with the sc52 and how quickly that spools and hard it pulls? Its capable of like 600 and should flow more I would think, but I would need more boost to actually hit 450 whp... decisions decisions

I know it's low for 15psi, but the mustang dyno where I work seem to evaluate down low. I run 116-117mph at the track with pump gas setting.
Just as an exemple, a mustang with a built 351 dynoed 365whp, got the car to the track and run 11.13 127mph so.....
For the spool time, it make 200whp at 5000rpm.
For the setup:
JG edelbrock intake with equal lenght exhaust manifold, 3inch downpipe/exhaust.
Crane 20 cams--- 260deg duration with 470 lift
(race all motor cams but ended up with +20whp than the stock cams) I do not feel like I lost a lot of low end cause I didn't have a lot before But top end feel like vtec head..... and idle like an Harley

Just keep this turbo. It is perfectly capable of 400whp. All you're doing by spending more money and buying a bigger turbo is hurting your spool time.
Too many people want to be a stunna and have an SC61 when they don't really need it, I'd rather have the turbo that will give more area under the curve.

I say keep the one u have and upgrade your cams and intake manifold. The price of a bigger turbo will be the cost of those upgrade and you will see better results too. Spend the money somewhere else bc your sc44 is capable of doing 400 without a sweat.
