To sleeve or not to sleeve, that is the question.
My plan is to go for 450whp to 500whp out of my B16. I am debating whether to sleeve the block or not.
I've read all the threads about sleeving and have concluded it's best to just get some advice from other people. I know people have made 600+ whp on stock B-series sleeves, but I'm not going to go for that much.
My car is a track only car but the catch is that I do have to be able to drive it to the track. So pretty much I need it to be semi-reliable.
So what should I do? Please don't answer with "all you need is a good tune". I think the point is to have a good tune regardless, right?

when you did that 12.6 at 121 how much power was that with? couple good friends of mine are around 460 whp-500whp one of them cracked a sleeve already. But i guess if you stay in the 450ish range you will be ok, personaly i would sleeve mine but thats just me... goodluck.

if u want that much hp reliably.... take the insurance and sleeve it, as it will def. last longer than a unsleeved block. id say different if u were aiming at 350-400 hp toppps... but youre looking for moree than that... so my vote goes to sleeving

Sleeve it! I ran a stock sleeved block all last year and beginning of this season and we were always scared of cracking a sleeve, that is why we never ran it at 600whp+ It sets your mind at ease with a sleeved block

My 12.6 was on this set up:
JDM B16
Mugen headgasket (10.8:1 CR LMAO)
CTR cams w/ Rocket Valvetrain
T3/T4 60 trim .82 a/r
All at 10 psi.
This car was street tuned by me. Never hit the dyno. I ran conservative (but still smart) timing and then just dialed in the AFRs. I have pretty decent tuning experience by now. I'm no Mase or Jeff Evans but for my own car I've got it down good enough.
Oh BTW that was done on street tires too. No traction in 1st, kinda traction in 2nd, and then from 3rd on it was all killer no filler

B16? dont sleeve it...
rarely i have i seen pics or in person a crack B16A block... its aways B18/B20 blocks...
it all comes down to the tuning really... thats how people have made 600+whp on stock sleeves...
<~will be running a stock sleeved B16A and making lots of power....

sleeves in my opinion.
peace of mind is priceless in my opinion.
for myself, ive had some **** go wrong over the past 2 years ive been running a sleeved block that i am 100% confident would have blown my stock sleeves (i know i blew a stock sleeve before on less of a expletive up than what happened with my aebs slleeves)

Oh really? I split a B16A sleeve about 4-5 years ago. I used to beat the **** out of it too

Re: To sleeve or not to sleeve, that is the question. (Boostfed.com)
i just rebuilt my b16 and i spent the extra money to sleeve it.. down the line no one ever shoots for less horsepower. so why not sleeve it now so wen ur ready for more power u wnt have to go back into the block? ill be doin roughly 300-350 horsepower but sleeved it so later down the line ill use my block in a track car and go for reall high numbers

Re: (doood)
roughly around 450-650 for the actual sleeves.. and roughly 100-150 dollars each sleeve for labor to put the sleeves in the block.. of course theres some u can get for wayyyyyy cheaper. but for good reliable ones ur lookin at spending that much.
