Default Skunk 2 Pro 1 question...

I cant afford the motor that I want to put together right now for this season.. So Im gonna piece back together my B16. I have a Un ported GSR head Im gonna put these PRO1's and matching Ti retainers and springs into.. I should notice a difference over the GSR cams I had been using shouldnt I? I have seen the T1 chart where they made +150hp at 40lb, Im only going to be putting about 20 Lb to this block.. Comments ideas or thoughts?

If you dont have a Huge turbo like just get ITR's. I had a 60-1 t3 with a 63 ar exhaust housing and a stage3 wheel it was restricing the cams. So I am upgrading to a 82 ar exhaust housing and a stage 5 wheel with a GT35R compressor housung and wheel.

How much power are you trying to make? If your only trying to make 300-400whp i think itr cams are going to work fine..Pro 1s seemed to be used for the guys going for my hp from what I have read

Yeah... well I already have the Pro1's and the springs are going into the head today so hopefully the Gt3076R that I have dont hold the Pro1's back....

I'd find the quote from Jeff Evans on this but search is down. He doesn't recommend running pro1s on anything smaller then the gt35. For the GT30R the Tuner1s will preform best and make about 10-20whp more then the ITRs.

If you decided to run the pro1s, make sure you degree them in otherwise you won't get them to idle for crap. That was another reason I sold my pro1s to pickup the tuner1s.

Well if you are going to use them regardless of what anyone tells you, why did you make this thread?

I think the manifold type matters just as much if not more than the size of the turbo being used. Log manifolds and cams larger than ITR do not go well, especially on H22's from what I have learned. To run the large cams (pro-1/tuner 2's) you need to have good flow and velocity (low backpressure) from the head to the turbo (ramhorn, topmount) for the large NA cams to make power, and inlinepro type manifolds and logs do not flow what a good tubular EL can.

I wouldnt advise running the pro1's on tuner springs, on skunk2's website it says pro series springs required to run them

ITR cams, 83mm b18c1, sc61e

Run 2 - GSR Cams
Run 2- ITR cams untuned
Run 12 - ITR Cams tuned
