Skulled's EJ6 Turbo Single Cam Build
My last build I planned on building a monster single cam turbo car. I never quite got around to fulfilling what I wanted to do as I ended up having to sell the car.
I purchased this 2000 Honda Civic DX (EJ6) at what I call a pot lot (crappy used car lot) with 165,XXX on the car, a transmission that grinded 3rd and 4th.
My last build was more flashy than anything and honestly became kind of a hassle due to all the attention I got from the police and other unwanted attention from sketchy individuals with bad intentions. I decided on going a more mellow route this time.
Previous ride:
New ride:
The start:
I had a local shop called T-Rev Motorsports install a used Greddy 15G turbo kit that they had laying around. I paid $1,000 installed, chipped, and tuned. Another $400 for the Chipped P28 ECU and OBD1 jumper harness and some various other wiring that needed done. Within 3 weeks I spun a bearing in the motor. I knew it would happen, because I was beating on the car (see picture below) but I didn't figure it would happen that fast. Oh well, rebuild time.
Rebuild:
Instead of rebuilding my Y7 bottom end I picked up a Z6 block and a Y8 head, as well as a Y8 transmission and rebuilt that. New gaskets, timing belt, Honda water pump, etc. We ran into an issue with the block having a stripped hole for one of the head bolts so we ended up drilling it out and putting an insert into it. We also ended up having to run a Y8 crank from a short block I bought to use for parts that wasn't entirely perfect. I'm a little nervous about that but I'm 350 miles into my break-in period and it seems to be doing fine. Ran it for 150 miles did an oil change and didn't have any shavings in the oil that isn't normal for a fresh break in. I'll continue updating this post as I progress.

Re: Skulled's EJ6 Turbo Single Cam Build
I have done business with Trevor from t-rev, he is a really good guy. Did you build the short block or is it just a stock rebuild? What are you're power goals this time around? Trevor tuning it again?
