sizing question between TiAl 35mm & 40mm same???
I recently purchased a tial 40mm wastegate and noticed something strange. The only thing different between it and the 35 mm hp one that I sold was the size of the valve and the shape of the base was square. The inner diameter of the valve seat was still 35mm and the exit to the dump tube is a cast piece that measures 35mm as well. So what exactly is the benefit of having a 40mm valve when the entrance and exit are still 35mm??? I noticed the 46mm tial has an exit of 40mm? Can someone shed some light on this?
if I am not mistaken, the 40 mm has a different setup as far as the spring on the diapghram, therefore are able to run high boost more efficiently than the 35 mm...even at the same spring rate.
think of it this way, it's more accomodated to run high boost spring more effectively....

Does someone have a reg 35mm tial wg lying around that they can measure. I am curious as to what size the id of the valve seat is and what size the id of the exit out of the wg is. Tials website doesn't have the schematics of the 35mm wg like they do of the 40 and 46mm.

Thanks... I am curious to know what are the sizes for both the hp and the reg 35mm tial. I know there has to be many others on this board that have a wg waiting around to be installed and might have a micrometer handy!
The difference is this...
The 35mm per tial is 30mm opening on the valve seat inside diamter with a thinner seat.
The 40mm per tial is 35mm opending on the valve seat with larger andthicker valve seat.
the 46mm per tial is 40mm opening i measured all of them as well and they are truein what they say.
They also state its easier to control high boost than it is to control low boost situations.

hp difference is the acutal VALVE it self and not the VALVEseal.
The VALVE ON THE 35mm hp is 40mm valve
THe VALVE on the 40mmhp is a 46mm VALVE
