A buddy of mine has a block that has been resleeved by Benson's and said to be a KG block or whatever and I was curious if you all that have had sleeves sink have found anything in common with what would be causing this. He has over 12k into just hard parts for the block/head and I would hate to see him sink when pushing 30psi through his ts04.
I know that there are some that have lasted 2 years and are still going strong.. and there are some that fail after 1 week.
Any info on what flaws wether it be machining or whatever let me know so we dont run into this.

If it's a kg block it'll have a "KGXXXXXX" stamp on it, right below the engine code. I'v only had mine in for 3 days and 88 miles so I can't tell you just yet.

it depends on when he got it done. the ones done in 97, 98, 99 are pretty good. its the new ones you gotta worry about.

Was it a machining issue er something? Its a newer one I believe . poo poo I hope it holds up.

Sleeves sinking is somewhat of a common thing. Sometimes it hapeens and sometimes it doesnt. I dont know what may cause this, however all that needs to be done is just replace the head gasket.

replacing the head gasket won't solve sinking sleeves. Resleeving, or filling the waterjacket with block filler will, however. Or you could just get Golden Eagle or Darton sleeves and not worry about it happening in the first place

Yea my block is going to Vince when my pistons come in. He already had his together and everything before GE put a BIG footprint in the resleeve market.

No. No. No. What i am referring to is a sleeved block. Sometimes on freshly resleeved block the sleeves then to sink a little bit or shift a lil bit. 9 out of 10 times we have to change the head gasket after the 500 mile break in period. We change it because the sleeves do sink down a little bit or shift. It's not that big of a deal, once you changed the headgasket after the break in period its all good.
