I would get forged rods and pistons and leave it at that..

I was in the same position as you 7 years ago. I say either put the supercharger on and leave everything stock or save more money and do a B-Series swap. Do not waste your time building up a supercharged single cam, trust me.

Building a single cam is not a waste of time.

You should check out gitwidits old supercharged D16 setup. Might change your mind.

mine is making around 180whp
completely stock,
nothing but intake and exhaust (STOCK HEADER)
9-9.5psi

anhow,
yeah go for it, they can make some good power.
turbo's can make more.
but the throttle response and low/midrange on the jrsc'd setup is ohsosweet
for fun tooling around town, haha.

if I had the chance to build the bottom end, i'd definetely go for it.
you want some flatop pistons. Try to go for 10:1 comp ratio(yes you want to RAISE it, it will give you good gains!) and forged rods.

I agree it was not a bad setup at all, but he was spraying as well.

True. Turbochargers are just better either way when it comes to D Series or B Series though. I guess what I'm saying is if one should consider it a waste to build a D Series for supercharger, I wouldn't build a B Series for it either.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't change my mind at all. I've been there and done that (12 lbs of boost and 100 shot of NOS with a pretty build D16Z6). It became very unreliable (having the Supercharger take ***** on me quite frequently at $700 per rebuild) I realized it wasn't worth it anymore and that I made the wrong decision buying the blower instead of doing a swap. It ran a best of 12.1 @ 115 back in 2000 (most of that ET is from the nitrous, the car was at best a mid to high 13 second car on boost alone), which is probably quite faster than what gitwidits setup ran (my car was a daily driven del sol), but I couldn't compete with the turbo T4 cars then and wouldn't even be in the top 20 cars now. There are much better options than a built sohc supercharger setup. Once I turbo'd the CRX, it has been a whole different game for me in T4 now. I don't give me the endyn stuff.

heh,
if you had turned the boost down just 2psi your charger would have lasted you forever

Thanks, it may have lasted a little longer, but definitely not forever. The units are pieces of ****. How do you explain them breaking on stock 99-00 SIs as I have seen them time and time again do?

Installing a supercharger on my SOHC was such a waste. Don't get me wrong, it made my civic a blast to drive, but so would a turbo or a swap, both of which are much cheaper.

Jackson racing isn't a bad product, but it sure as hell isn't worth $2200.
