Silicone Hose
Size? get what ever fits the charge pipes you have and the intercooler.. Most couplers are 3" long so if your gonna order it in bulk just figure out the number of joint. FWIW roadrace sells it for $24/ft and turbopiping has it for $6/coupler. it works out to the same price and I think they are the cheapest. Infact turbopiping is almost always the cheapest.. If you need an oddball piece look at turbohoses.com.
I'm planning to run 2.25" from the turbo to the intercooler and 2.5" from there.

2 feet would suffice in most applications if you were to use 3 inch hose sections. What kind of car ? And if you use the same piping throughout without transition hoses then you might need less than 2 feet.
