serious problem here, head clearance!!!!!
ok here the deal, i have a b20 block, gsr head that was purchased as a whole. It is already sleeved. Well i ordered 9to1 compression pistons from edyne and put them on the crower rods that also came with the engine. when i turn it over by hand. (just the bottom end assembled here) the sides of the pistons come up over the side of the sleeves/block surface. As if they are too tall. Not the center, the sides. and on the gsr head it clearly mates up flush with the block, but now im sure the pistons wont complete there upward travel without hitting the head. This makes me believe the block or head has been milled a good bit. Now the engine came with a copper think *** head gasket tats is all nasty. so i guess heres the options. 1: buyy a thicker copper head gasket and have it borred to match the size on the new pistons (motor was bored out after purchase) or 2: have the tops of the pistons plained of to match the head. any ideas?? thanks

If the head of block isnt level, get that fixed. Otherwise it wont seal as good and u really dont want your head sitting at an angle.

measure the distance you have that the pistons stick out it should be somewhere in given range. Now all you need is to get a customer gasket from cometic. that is slighly larger. so if you have gap of .029sticking out then you would need something like .048 gasket. larry usually has them if you need them i have them as well.
