Scatter shield or no scatter shield?
this will go back and forth from a hydro to cable tranny case right?
No way to save the tranny case and sometimes the block eats it also. Scattershield is just to protect you and innocent by standers.
we had a JUN chromoly flywheel, that **** held, nothing wrong with it. the only thing that gave out was the ACT clutch and ripped away from everything around it.
yea, that's why i said clutch & flywheel combo. if you're running a decent amount of power and slicks, running modifed stock pressure plates (ie. ACT, Clutchmasters) is a hazard to your drivetrain. You want something that's designed to take the abuse, for instance the tilton, os giken, clutch masters dual disc.
ACT and CM have modified stock pressure plates? So there just stock one made to handle more power?Thats shitty.Name some more companies in the $300-$450 price range for clutches,i need a good one. Thanks
Untrue, both ACT and CM (at least on their high end clutches) are mostly custom made parts for the clutch. Better quality center sections, bigger rivets, stronger diaphrams, etc. Lots of reasons for a clutch to explode and not all of them the fault of the mfg.
true, lots of people use ACT/CM with success. i guess im just a sucker for marketing
but at the same time i've seen pictures of the destruction of a clutch letting go, and it tags the tranny and block turning them into garbage.

The clutchmasters/ACT combo is nice but wehn you bust over 350fltbs every day and harsh launches you gonna destroy your tranny and shooot your pressure plate outside the trannsmission. Like Sefi says you must go with a high qualy clutch combo that wont get destroyed. Such as
Tilton
Os geiken
ClutchMaster dual Disc
RPS carbon

If you run track event and run faster than 11.99, they are required...
Do all tracks have this rule? Is there any way to visually inspect that you have a scattershield in (seems like you could just "say" you have a scattershield if you have an 11 second car)?
here's a link that shows what the scatter shield looks like.
