Default Sc61 owners speak!

I just wanna get some feed back from the people on hondatech who actually own the sc61 turbo, an what you thought about it. Like the pro's an the cons of the turbo.. My setup should be done in a few months, an im about to order my sc61 "sc6152e" soon an a buddy of minds told me to get the S trim. So ill be getting that but i dont know much about the s trim option, besides it could create more lag but i was told it isnt noticeable,so if some one has any info on the S trim fill me in on it please. So yeah im gonna stop rambling off at the mouth an i just wanted to see what yall thought of the turbo. By the way if anyone has any advice for my setup speak freely... this is my setup

81mm gsr,stock head,eagle rods,cp pistons,LS crank.

RLD-FAB Manifold,3" downpipe,dumptube,tial 38mm wastegate,greddy type rs bov,precision 600hp intercooler,precision sc61 S trim, precision 880cc injectors,hondata s300,greddy profec B controller or turbo xs dualstage, REV valvesprings &retainers.

what manifold are you using is it a rmahorn or log? the scover is a bigger compressor housing and may make the turbo alot harder to fit.....

The e cover will be fine for your setup we have made over 530 hp on the E..slightly less lag

i believe s cover is 4 inch inlet and e is 3 inch...

S housing is 4" in 2.5" out, atleast thats what my friend told me. An the manifold is a ramhorn manifold. Now that i think of it, im not sure if it will fit i will have to ask rld first lol.

i dont own an sc61 anymore but i sure do miss mine. i had the E housing and i loved it. theres plenty of people making 500-600whp easy on just the E housing. I honestly haven't seen many posts about the S cover.

Yeah im starting to think, i dont really need the S cover. Im sure i can do with just the regular E cover. By the way what were your spool times on your setup an what motor did u have it on?

it started spoolin around 3grand and full boost right before 5k. on a b18c.
i think its the perfect turbo for a gsr/itr. i had it on my b16 and it was a lil bit more laggy.

the s cover is like 100$ more also ...i would stick with the E....itll fit better and be cheaper

what are your power goals? the sc34 is a great turbo also ...we made 460 with it and it spools much faster

My power goal is 350-400 on low boost,an 450 or so on high boost. Im sure the sc34 could support it, but i dont wanna run alot of psi just to meet my goal. Like sc34 i could make 350-400 while pushing 18-23 psi, while the sc61 i could push 14-18 psi. An so on for highboost. Oh yeah by the way how much boost did u have to run on the sc24 to meet the goal?

the sc34 .48 ar made 460 hp on a ls vtec at 23 psi and had a great powerband

110 fuel mase tuned it

on that same car we switched from gsr to CTR cams

skunk2 manifold to edelbrock

and sc34 .48 ar to a sc6152e .63 ar and it made 528 on 21-22 psi and 110 gas iwth more lag...

How would a SC61 compare in size to a holset HX35?

I am currently runing an SC61 and Iove it so far. I got a pretty good deal on the turbo so I had to take it. The spool is a little slow(full boost 5k) but I rev my car to 9300, so it doesn't matter so much! Here is my dyno sheet at 23(22.8) psi!
84mm Ls/Vtec
9:1 wiseco
RLZ B16 head
Inline pro SS mani.

I love the turbo on my stock B16. It is laggy compared to a normal t3/t4 but once you learn the powerband, you can be in boost when you want. Just rev it more

Thats not bad at all gaining 68 extra hp just from switching turbo's,intake manifold,an cams.. OEM cams at that which are known to have good power gains. Only downside like you said was the lag. But keep this thread up people i wanna get more opinions on the turbo.
