SC-61 weird noise
I am not sure if this is a problem or not.
Basically the only time I hear this noise is while the car is sitting and I rev the engine up to clear it out and shut it down as it is reved this gets the turbo spinning and when it is still spinning after the engine had stopped it makes a weird sound kinda like a rubbing sound (hard to explain)
Turbo has no in out shaft play, very minimal up down ( which is normal) and boost just fine to 32psi.
So my question is has anyone experienced this or possibly knows what the noise is from. I just want to know if this is common.

Re: SC-61 weird noise (30psi Teg)
So basically you're revving the motor and just turn it off?
I don't know if it's a bad thing or not...but aren't you giving the turbo any cool down time?
Engine off = no oil circulating. Think about it....

slap me if I'm wrong, but when you rev it up and get your snail spoolin like that and just cut the engine - you're basically just cutting off it's life blood of positve oil pressure. Can't be a good thing. Don't know what the noise is, but I personally wouldn't do that.

Re: SC-61 weird noise (SiRkid)
well if you rev it and then immediately turn the car off, the turbo will be spinning at high RPMs with zero oil pressure in the center section. I don't know if this would actually hurt the bearings but I don't think I would do it on a regualr basis.
ohh and
32PSI!!!!!!!!????!?!?!?! WTF
what is your C:R?

Re: SC-61 weird noise (HybridKOOP)
Now I know that when you cut off the engine it stops the flow of oil to the turbo. I give the turbo plenty of time to cool off and its just that when it sits idle sometimes it loads up and I just burp the throttle to clear it out and shut it down before it idles again. (I am not revving this thing to more than 3 grand) its just a funny rubbing noise but everything seems to be in order so I dont know....

Yeah 32psi is a blast it takes a while to get there though because its just from boost creep hahah.
