you need to be tuned for what boost pressure you are running to be safe.

I have a stock D16Y8, running 5lbs of boost and getting 180 WHP. And yes if you want to turn up the boost you have to get it re-tuned.

Our stock engine can handle 200WHP MAX....any more and there go your rods.

I wouldnt go by that per say... There are a lot of ppl making well over 200whp w/ stock d-series motors that are holding up just fine.. Now Im pretty much in the same predicament... If I were you (and this is the way I plan on doing it in my personal car) I'd spend a little more money and get an electronic boost controller. Im a firm believer that our stock blocks can handle more than 200whp but I wouldnt want to run more boost than I am right now (7psi) constantly... atleast not during the day with 95* heat and near 100% humidity.. If I was at the track or it was cool out (typically at night) I wouldnt mind running a bit more boost to make more power as long as the tune is good... The adjustablity between low and high boost is something you dont have with a manual boost controller... Not only that I believe some have feature to help with spikes...

I agree Boosted96EK... there are people running more than 200whp on the stock block. What I meant to say is that you can run up to 200whp safely. My tuner didn't want me to go any higher....so i trusted him and stayed @ 180whp.

250whp with a good motor and good tune. They wont last long though, but 6months - year of that power is well worth it.
