safe daily psi
hi, this is my first post. juss letting you know now, i dont have the car yet. im wainting till the end of basic trainning.... any how. i want a 94 gsr, it's a b18c1, i am going to rebuild the hole thing; cams, valves, springs, port/polish, pistons (9.0-1), rods, even crankshaft. but i am currious if getting sleeves is really necessary. i would love to run 450hp, thats what 14-15psi?, daily. and, what is the highest rpm i should tune the topend to for turbo application. i've herd of n/a vtec's pulling 10k rpm.
thanx,
peace

Re: safe daily psi (gsrsportcompact)
the first thing you need to realize is that you need to pick the turbo before you aim for a basic hp gain. stock sleves usually go around 400-500 hp although many people have taken them past the 500hp level. i'd say with your desire to run 450hp daily is possible but there are a lot of other things to do besides just motor work for your set-up to be able to perform the way you are going to want it to.
setup should be
sleved, what ever cp motor at an 84mm bore IMO, 60-1 or t-67 turbo from precision or whereever you like, the motor you are runnng is great for boost, i would say that you dont need to rev the motor up past 9k to make the power you are looking for, just run higher boost levels around 20psi-ish. be prepared to get a good suspension and most important, get a good fuel management system like HONDATA which just released the S300, or get Crome or Uberdata, Turbo edit Neptune, AEM EMS, and most importantly get it TUNED

Re: safe daily psi (urbansi)
What urbansi said! Realize its not psi rather air flow and fuel. No need to spin the hell out of it. If you what 450hp DD , build it to handle 600hp and detune it to 450. Then you can lean on it all you want. For the street you might want to go with a gt series ball bearing turbo that is made to run in that range. Sleeves are probably in order but you need to really pay attention to the piston to wall clearance and the timing in the tune. Good luck and don’t be a ***** go AIRBORNE!
