Default A couple of questions on my first high hp build...

First off, the setup:

b18c1 head, stock ports, Ferrea stainless valves, skunk 2 dual springs, crower titanium retainers, ITR cams

B18a1 block, stock crank, gsr caps w/gsr girdle, scat rods, 85mm JE pistons, darton sleeves closed deck.

gt3561s for the turbo

I am trying to decide how far I should rev this setup. I am planning to decide on the dyno, depending on how the powerband looks. I am thinking 9k though, maybe 9200. I'd really appreciate any input here?

I am also trying to decide on a manifold setup. Whatever I do will be custom made, I'll probably do a top mount w/ 1.5" runners... I have read every thread possible on this, and I know all manifolds have their pro's and cons, I just can't decide. I want a decent spool, and good power.

I'm hoping to make 550 whp on 110 octane, I think that's attainable for my setup...

Hp is dependent on your fuel setup, 750cc is good for a max of 525-550hp. Your motor is certainly capable of that power level with that turbo. Do not use a walbro, not big enough. I am not a fan of reving past 9k unless its an all out race car but thats just me. Do 1000cc with an injector driver, some 8an lines and a pump bigger than a 255 and the fuel end is taken car of. What are you using for management? I just bought a Neukin Manny and a Tial 44 for my setup, I used the $500 i saved from buying the Neukin over the Full-Race to buy the Tial and Injector Driver on my car.

I have a 255 currently in the car from last years setup and i'm gonna try to make it on it w/ a -8 feed, inline filter, and 1000cc injectors. If the pump maxes out on the dyno or loses pressure then I'll go with an aeromotive and sump. Whats the deal with the injector driver? I'm gonna tune with neptune, I have a msd 7al 2, pro power hvc coil, and 3 step module (know this is probably all unneeded b/c stock ignition is great, but I have like 200 bucks in it all).

As far as the wastegate, I'm thinking of trying to get buy with my 38mm tial from last year b/c the lowest boost i'm gonna run is 14.5 psi.

Some people have issues with their car running erradically and or rich at idle with the 1000+cc injectors, the driver help with that problem. FJO retails it for $191, you might be able to get it cheaper than that

I'll speak to my tuner about it and see what he thinks... thanks for the heads up.

I honestly havent checked -6 an line and fitting prices, but for the amount of stuff I'm buying, i'm sure the difference can't be that much...

lol. do you want to take that bet? in my opinion. every dollar you save is another dollar spent on something else for your car, that you really need. (you dont need -8)

I understand that, but with my spending habbits in my personal life if I was going to live strictly by that philosophy then I'd quit going out and partying 3 or 4 nights a week, quit buying **** all the time, and just save strictly for the car. There are a lot of other places I could cut back cash for the car before i tried to save 50 bucks or so on fuel line.

Im doing the same exact build, b18a1 built block, b18c1 built head, gt35r, aiming for 450 on pump and over 600 on race gas. Should be tuned this week.

pm me some more specifics of that build if you don't want to make them public, I'd like to see what similarities/differences we have...

I am picking up the assembled bottom end, and head w/ new vavles/springs/ret's in a week and a half, so it's decision time... I think I'm stuck on a top mount, 4" exhaust, 3" coldside charge piping, 2.5" hotside... and probably rev'n to 9200. I hope it makes some power

I know exactly what you are saying!! I wish I had the ballbearing version though, other than that I'm pretty much happy with the build so far.

3" intercooler piping is overkill, go with 2.5 or 2.75 inch

from my understanding, the 38mm will be ok with a big turbo and high boost, it's low boost levels on a big turbo that it struggles...

thats affirmative, you shouldnt need a bigger wastegate unless you plan on running less than 13-15psi.

if the gas is leaded which im not sure if 110 is u might want to get the race valve for the 38mm wastegate. the regular valve will last a while but not forever it will start to stick.
