Running Nitrous, Cam selection Question.
what would be a decent cam to run on nitrous? I want to be decent off the bottle and of course with a 100 shot make good use of the nitrous.
Original Plans
Blox Forced induction cams
Then..
Blox B's or S2s2 with intake retard
Im wondering about the new pro series? skunk 2 pros?
they have lots of duration is that bad for nitrous applications?
this will be my first time on the bottle....
thanks everyone.

I would say, build your motor first to be as powerful as you can get the sucker, then spray the thing! Big cams!!!!

Re: Running Nitrous, Cam selection Question. (crucian)
The motor is being built right now.
forged pistons and rods.
Ported Head
Blox intake manifold
ericks T/B
Prototype Velocity Stack
Jun Valvetrain on Head
Working on getting a Rage, hytech or sparks header.
So once again what cam selection??
some said less duration for nitrous so im think s2s2 or blox B. which are junIII copies.
Im still thinking Pro series thought because I want to be fast off the bottle as well. I want 180HP+ off Plus a 100 shot of Nitrous.

unless your running high compression, these cams your mentioning wont gain more than 10hp... same as a smaller cam in the long run. thats where i was going with the s2s1 idea. Or even get a set of buddy club IIIs. if you get a set of s2p2s or something equivalent, you'll need much higher compression than what you should run nitrous with (unless its on c16 and very very conservatively tuned). granted nitrous loves comression, there's that threshold you may cross over.
ps, what bore size will you be running?

Re: Running Nitrous, Cam selection Question. (tegasaurus)
they bored the stock block .20 over.
B18B
Compression is between 10.9 and 11.3
I wont be sure until the head is checked out for surfacing etc.
when i will use nitrous i will be on race gas or at least 100 octane (76)
so no on the pro series?
Turbo cams or s2s2s?

For the most part, cam selection plays almost no role in how your nitrous system is going to function.. in the Honda world. Unless you run adjustable cam gears and dial in a ton of overlap for some odd reason, you won't ever notice a difference.
I'll tell you what I tell everyone else on this subject, buy the cams that you want for best NA/Street performance and then throw the nitrous on top. One last thing, nitrous engiens DO NOT need less duration, if anything they prefer more.

so pro2's would be Pimp to run on this engine? would be overcammed since its not that high of a compression ratio?

Re: Running Nitrous, Cam selection Question. (PinkMaggit)
Well I would think big cams will be able to move the extra air and fuel in and out of the engine. Personally I won't worry about the compression ratio thing when it came to choosing the cam. Because the comprssion ratio you wil be running wont matter when you spray. You will want your cams to move all that extra stuff in and out. So what Im trying to say is, if you choose a, for example, B16 cam because it runs better on a paticular N\A motor, but when you spray, it cant move anything extra. Now you put some wilder cams that only give you 10hp in N\A form, but when you spray that sucker, you will feel a world of difference because that cam can move the extra gases... Hope you understand what Im trying to say.
