well with some time to spare today, getting the car ready for the next race on Sunday, I decided to make a cold air intake for my turbo.

So since the top grill on the EK's is worthless, I decided to start mocking up the intake out of carboard. Once tested and fully happy with the finished product, I will make it out of fiberglass or aluminum.

Well here are some pics of what I got done today, in about two hrs.

so my questione is, what are you guys doing for fresh air for your tubo's. especially the daly driven ones.

so if you have any pics, post them up, or any ohter helpfull ideas, I would like to hear them.

i just remove my passenger side headlight and use a hose extension i made.

although i dont have top mount.

i think your idea is great bro, get it finished so we can see the end result

Take the outter shape of the carboard you just made and learn about fiberglass molding and in result you get something to sheild the heat better.

Put one of these to good use.

I'm thinking of doing this with my boosted eg. I am going to use one of the headlight ducts and run piping to the duct (where the headlight would be).

Should turn out alright, just trying to think of a filter device.

Nice idea man I'm curious to know if your engine bay temps go up from blocking that vent... ?

We Integra's dont even have that air hole, so I shouldnt worry about it to much.

BMW have similiar intake setup like that, just only that it leads to a filter box first though.

I would do that, but the class im racing in, does NOT allow me to remove the headlight. I have to have it street legal, wich includes headlights, exhaust, full interior.

make sure that cardboard is secure... i bet you would love to suck some of that through your turbo!

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing. I have an extra set of headlights so Im thinking of just cutting a duct in my spare headlight and changing it out when I race. That way I can change between the two when I want.

I think the vent helps allow colder air cool down the engine bay which is also helpful.

i like the grill mounting idea cause you can run it all the time. Problem is i got an EG so i would need to mount it elsewhere since they dont really have a grill location up there...

I was thinking of just cutting a little V in the hood or bumper near the turbo, hard to describe but ive seen it on alot of s2k's if you know what im talkin about....

I think I know what you're talkin about...I've seen some 3KGT's/Stealth's run something similar. I think it's called a NASA Scoop. Has an upside down V with the bid opening face the front and the small facing the back. Then in the back opening there is a duct that goes into the engine bay...then you can route a pipe up to it.

I would have the surface opening forward facing ( ahead of the car) thats where you get the most positive pressure.

My compressor inlet faced the other way, so I just made a CAI out of 3" bends and ran it back behind the fender with a K&N filter.
