Default Running Low-Comp With No BOOST???

I just sold my EM1 to buy another EM1 that is turbo-ready (sleeved & built block & built head). My question is am I going to screw anything up using it as a DD until I get my turbo plans together? I was thinking of running a chipped OBD1 and having it street tuned or just running a decent base-map until I get the turbo together. Thanks for the input ahead of time.

Thanks,

Collin

"turbo ready" should also mean that it was tuned properly with the correct fuel modifications and engine management. find out from the other person what was done. If you can't and you've purchased the turbo car anyway, avoid driving it until you get more information, or worst case scenario, make sure the right equipment is in the car and retune. here's a moto: "When in doubt, don't drive it out."

No, if it was built right, you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure you have a good tune on it. I would get a real dyno tune just to be on the safe side. I mean, you've already spent this much time, effort, and money on this, what's a little more to make it more reliable?

EDIT: If the tune is shitty on it when you check it out, you have to ask yourself how long they've been driving around like that, and if it's caused any damage. Why is this person selling their turbo project car before they finished it? I would ask LOTS of questions.

It's still running stock injectors, fuel rail, and intake mani. The fuel system is completely ready. I know the person I bought it from, and the person who built the motor so I'm not sketched about that at all. I just don't wan't to F something up while I'm waiting to complete it.

The tune is what you need to worry about. Just get it dyno tuned, and you won't have to worry about it.

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to boost this coming summer '08. Although, I found a good deal on a built H22a4 block (with 9:1 CR) a couple of weeks ago so I picked it up. I'm in a '00 5gen lude.

Was wondering, if I swap the built block into my car till then, and get it tuned of course, how much of a HP loss will I feel with the lower compression? Can a good tune make up for loss of HP with the lower compression?

Reason I want to swap out my old engine is so I can sell it to help pay off the built block. Sooner the better... thanks.

9:1 is not that bad. get it tunes for N/A and you should be a-ok.
