Default RPM activated switch for IAB?

Gonna get a p28 ecu for my hondata equiped GSR, I remember reading that it's possible to make a rpm activated switch to open the secondary runner, anybody konw how to do this. I was gonna get a Victor X manifold but I dont' think it will make that huge of a different running 10psi for now, prob can use the money on something more useful now if I can get my factory manifold to open up.

You just cut power to the IAB solenoid at the chosen rpm and it will engage the short runners.

sorry, but what I guess I really wanted was something that would be automatic instead of me flipping a switch.

Oh I know. I'm just saying that you actually cut signal to the solenoid rather than send it to "engage" the short runners. it's not like VTEC where you send power to engage vtec....

ok, makes sense now! Do you know what I could use that would do this at a certain RPM? Sorry, I'm kinda ignorant when it comes to this stuff, maybe I would be better off buying the Victor X?

MSD makes RPM switches...

Too bad hondata doesn't have any user-controllable outputs... unless yours happened to have a shift light output, which you could put on a relay to ground the IAB wire at a set RPM.

Hehe the shift light thing is a good idea as an auxiliary output dbman96...

too bad the hondata shift light also lights the CEL, I just don't like the way seeing the CEL light up at high-rpm affects my heart-rate

Heh, you can cut the wire ... then you lose the CEL but who needed that thing anyways
Just don't throw a code or you might automagically disengage your secondary runners hehe

Yeah, shift light as an aux output is a very clever idea!

You'd need an RPM activated switch and a relay. If you go to any place that does stereos/alarms they should be able to fix you up on the relay. What will happen is the RPM switch will send voltage to the relay, and in turn the relay will make a break in the wire to your IAB deal.

I did the same thing on a mobile phone car kit. When my phone would get a call, the car kit would send voltage to a relay that would cut the power signal to my stereo's amp, that way I could just talk and not worry about turning off the stereo.
