Default Resonator or Muffler?

My turbo CRX is finally done, and I need to quiet it down some. Im running an open downpipe right now, and its really loud. It will primarily be a track car, but it will be driven on the street a good bit. So I need to know if a large resonator and a few feet of piping would quiet it down enough, or if I need to go with a muffler. Thanks.

I would just use full piping and a muffler. The muffler is probably less of a restriction than a resonator.

Resonators are straight through.

i got a dyno max turbo muffer, its pretty quiet but the hiway drone will kill you. I recommend both, Im about to go back to the shop and have mine changed. I've had this setup for long time and the drone just never gets better.

A resonator is designed to remove high-pitched exhaust noise. A chambered muffler removes mostly middle-range sound. Since your turbine effectively removes the high-pitched noise, I would go with a muffler.

Most 3" turbo mufflers are straight through also.

Don't even think about recommending a chambered muffler to anyone with a turbo car. They are TERRIBLE. A friend of mine picked up 30 RWHP, a shitload of torque, and about 750 RPM's quicker spool on a turbo mustang starting at 300 RWHP going from a pair of 2.5" 2 chamber dronemasters to a pair of straight through dynomax mufflers. If 2 of them are that restrictive at 300 WHP I can't begin to imagine how bad one would be.

I could have sworn it was the Autozone Turbo or something like that. But neither Autozone nore Discount Depot have them here.

Bump cause I'm running a straight 3" exhaust with only a 18" resonator...need to quiet it down.

Has anybody heard the HKS Hi-Power 3" muffler?
