ok, im going to be rebuilding my gsr motor for boost, got it guy before me was an idiot, have dumped more money into fixing what he messed up than i want to admit. i was looking into resleeving and decided to just get some performance sleeves and build for boost. are the darton replacment sleeves stronger or literally just replacment, i dont need the flanged im not looking for huge numbers, just a nice street machine that makes me grin now and then.

Put it this way, they are a HELL of a lot stronger than the OEM liner's tensile strength wise. I was going to run them untill i thought f*ck it, i'll shoot for the flanged sleeves.

i was literally just about to bump this. so the "replacment" sleeves are stronger, not just factory spec, or are you thinking of the slightly more expensive (what i was likely going to use anyway) unflanged dry sleeves.

I'm thinking of the replacement liners not the flanged. The replacement liners (or sleeves) are definatly stronger that factory spec (OEM). I'm 100% sure about is as i've spoke to Darton about them.

alright great, thanks for the help. for the build im planning the flanged sleeves are excessive, im sure ill get flamed for that but im overbuilding by sleeving for what i want out of it, this is just a i have to resleeve due to cracked cyl might as well get something stronger. there is one between the replacment and the flanged i may go with those, they cost a little more im assuming they are stronger if not idk why they would charge extra for them lol. just looked up the ones im talking about, sites calling them dry ductile iron sleeves.

No problem, Check with your machine shop that its OK to use that block first.

from what i can tell the blocks fine but i already had that part planned, i just wasnt sure the state of the sleeves from darton in comparison but im left happily supprised

i would find the right company for the install before purchasing the sleeves. find the shop that has a good track record before i commit.

the shop it will be going to does it quite often, if theyre good enough to sleeve my buddys 900 horsepower foxbody mustang or his 700 horsepower pickup theyll do ok putting in replacment sleeves in a gsr block lol

Sounds like a good shop to me 700hp pickup !! Thats crazy !! You guys sure love your big cars over there ...

You could always go LA sleeves, full out race sleeves they make Darton sleeves and cost about the same as the "Replacement sleeves". Its going to cost you about the same to have them installed so you might as well go big and have some fun..

im not worried about being cost effective, it is never going to be a huge boost high number car, i really just have no need for the super reinforced sleeves like the mids. for what im doing i honestly could use the stock sleeves i just want something stronger for piece of mind. i will look into LA sleeves though.

just checked them out, i think im going to go w/ the dartons and have them along w/ my block sent to the shop in jacksonville, its MUCH closer.
