Default Resleeving.

Say a motor has low miles on it. 20k-50k. Would you still resleeve it if you planned on running 9.5 comp. with roughly 12 psi daily?

I personally wouldn't for 12 psi, but thats just me...you should be fine with stock sleeves at that and possible a little more...

You should be ok, but if you're like me you'll be craving more boost soon. So, if your going to take your motor apart to put in the pistons you might as well get it sleeved at the same time.

i think you'll be more than ok for 12psi...

my motor is currently apart. i'm going to use the stock sleeves, with JE 9:1 pistons, eagle rods, arp rod bolts. I plan on doing around 12-14 psi. only because funds won't allow me to sleeve it at the moment, plus i don't plan on running higher boost.

But if you have the money, and you're already taking the motor apart, then why not? more boost, and it'd be nice to know your sleeves will hold up...

if ur pulling the motor to install pistons and rods you might as well go the extra 1/4 mile and sleeve it as well. when u want to run above 12psi you will be glad u did.

but personally for 12psi; i wouldn't sleeve it, or build it. i would just take the extra step to MAKE SURE it is tuned good and safe. get good engine management and a proper fuel set up.

well you were blessed with an already low, streetable, turbo friendly compression ratio

12 psi on my b18c's stock cr of 10.6:1 isn't do-able regardless of tuning... especially with california's super dooper 91 octane. at least for a daily driver.

you are right about the sleeving though. it's just not possible for me to fork over the extra $1200 right now.

GE is $720 plus shipping (maybe around 100 bucks) through viren. i'm halfway across the country, and shipping when i looked into it was around 85 bucks for me to texas. i'll be in texas this spring anyways so i'm taking it with me.

oh yeh, i forget about that sometimes. yeh 12psi on a stock gsr motor is definitly pushing it.

do u have a jdm b18c? is that why u got 10.6:1? i would probably go the head gasket route on a stock block before i built a motor w/ out sleeves. but that is just me.

Well, you guys pretty much persuaded me. I'll probably have my block sleeved. Just to be safe.
