That is how i've always done it as well, but it seems like doing it this way might possibly crush the plastigauge more since when you tap on the bolt the rod pulls down on the cap until it breaks loose....i've never had a problem though. I don't think theres another way to do it.

As long as you tap the bolt, you will not affect the plastigage. Just don't hit the rod itself, only the bolt

A little bit off topic but same parts:
When you install the eagle rods in LSvtec set up, which side is the rod should face? i.e there's # on the other side. I heard the what some people saying that is "tang to exhaust" is it right? Thanks.

Tang to the exhaust but Eagle claims that their rods are the same in either direction. So don't panic if you put in some Eagles and didn't check. This may not be true for stock and other brands of rods.

Umm... this won't work. there are no thread on the cap side of the rod.
