Default Removing the Charge Pipe?

I was wondering if I remove the charge pipe, so I will not build boost while on a base map, will I over spin the turbo. I plan on driving the car easy to break-in the engine. I have heard of it being bad for the turbo, but I just wanted to confirm this.

Yeah def not good for the turbo.

Take the wastegate spring out to 0 out boost.

I think I might just do that, one big exhaust leak...

"Overspinning" the turbo only occurs with a large change in pressure. For example, if a person were on a dyno on a pull at 16psi and a charge pipe blew off, changing instantly from 16psi to 0. That shift would have a detrimental effect on the turbo causing reversion.

But a turbo that never reached positive pressure to begin with will not overspin, as it doesn't even approach past vacuum. It would act like any other header on the car. the turbo would spin, but at only a fraction of what would occur in my prior example. There is no reversion creation.

I've disconnected pipes to get people to the dyno for years. That is less of a pain then removing the spring from a wastegate, and risk destroying the diaphram.

If you are careful and don't drive like a maniac you can leave it be and not build boost. I drove over 200 miles to get mine tuned and had zero issues. Only thing I had to do was install injectors once I got there.

You're saying a free spinning turbo is turning less RPM than a turbo with the resistance of trying to compress air? With the same exhaust energy?? I think I'd need to see some real data to believe that lol.

If it's coming from TheShodan, and it has anything to do with turbos, just accept it as real data .

Tried removing the spring and my wideband readings were not like before, so I put the spring back in.

I was planning on being easy on it, I drove another car with a base map not building boost before tune, but that car wasn't as important to me as this one.

I was thinking the same thing.
