Default Really need help with correct turbo sizing!!!

Hey guys...

I'm hoping that someone here can set me straight with which turbo I should go with. I've been working with Precision Turbo and Engine in Indiana and have decided to go with their SC-61 line of turbos from Garrett. I have a 2.0 4 Cyl engine that is well built along with custom intake and exhaust manifolds...and a larger TB. With all my mods on my engine, I am looking to hit upper 600 HP at the crank. This is a street driven car...but will also be at the track a couple times this season.

Here are the specs on the turbo I was going to go with:

ar .63
compressor 76
t04e housing.

I'm told that the sc-61 with these specs will handle up to 680HP...which is perfect. I was also told that this should start spooling at around 3800 or so which is fine for me. When I called back the company yesterday to order it, I tallked to another tech there and he said that with a 2.0 L engine...this turbo won't spool until around 5500! Way to high for me. He said its better I go with a t04 69 trim turbine instead of the 76. He said I will spool much earlier, but produce low 600HP instead of the higher numbers.

So I talked to my mechanics...and they said there should be no problem with the original size I want...I should get spool at the mid to high 3ks.

So I ask for anyones help on this issue. I don't want to end up getting the wrong turbo. I really have a goal of around 700HP this season...so if your wondering why I don't go with the smaller one..thats why

I'd appreciate any knowledge on this subject! I'm going nuts with this whole thing.

Thanks!

The original setup you had should spool by 3500-4k. i wouldnt say it will make full boost by then but it will build boost. if you are lookign to spool the turbo real early then see if they can build you the sc61 with a .48 rear. if you need any help getting the turbo built properly for your setup PM me and I'll speak with PT.

Chicago smog creates dillusions sometimes. But if that is your goal the original spec SC61 sounds like the better of the two choices.
