Default Reading EGT

I've always wondered what to look for when reading Exhaust Gas Temperature. What are you looking for? How does the data aid in tuning? Is it also an aid to look for signs of a problem?

I know it provides useful data, but I'm curious because I have no idea how to interpret it.

Default Re: Reading EGT (Guam_CiviC619)

EGT lets u know when ur engine isnt running correctly. Example... if u spike in boost and ur engine a/f goes lean.... ur EGT will climb and is a sign that something is going wrong.

Its very usefull gauge that can save ur engine.
