read!::: AEM EMS users
to all aem ems users;
i am about to setup my new turbo setup along with ems this week and need some last advice. this is the only thing i still have to think about besides getting my hands on an injector resistor box.
Should i, buy a FJO wideband 02 and hook it up to the ems and tune it myself? i think i can do the WOT tuning, but im not sure about the idle tuning, letting off the gas..etc with a wideband and 2 smart people (one ase cert. mechanic) how hard do you think it will be to tune the ems ourselves? from 1 to 10.... 1 being the lowest, and 10 the highest...
my other option is to just take the money i would spend on the wideband and get someone to do all the **** for me... i dunno where i could take it and dont really want to take it to garage kwai, after talking to benson he told me he could do it but he isnt using a wideband just stock 02's and a dyno
the good thing about wideband is that it will be better in the long run.... what would YOU do??? p.s. if anyone is fluent in EMS and lives near by i will pay GOOD money for some help... thanks
Justin

Well with the wideband you can "autotune" which is sick. THat money you spend on the wideband could get you alot of good dyno tuning hours and an experienced tuner. Hard descision.

I'm in the same boat you are. I really want someone who has experience with the EMS before I go buy it, but if I can't find anyone in my area I don't know if I should try and tune it myself. I know people say that the EMS has sooooo many options that it is hard to learn but hey I've never had a computer kick my but (yet)
I say go with the WB o2. Even if you spend that money to have it tuned on a dyno then they will only be tuning for full throttle, high boost runs, and you will still have to tune for all of your daily driving. If you get the WB 02 you can tune for all driving conditions. I am still AEM illiterate, but I am on the EMS board everyday trying to learn, it is WAY too easy to blow sh*t up with the EMS if you don't know what you are doing!
the EMS is just too new and alot of people wont' have experience with it because of that. I remember when hondata was the buzz word from the forumns yet every place I went to never have worked on one yet...now almost everyone can tune one.
I'm pretty much stuck in the same situation you are in and although i'm willing to pay money for someone to tune it, the people that WANT to tune my system have not had enough experience so pretty much I'm going to be PAYING them to learn on my car..quotes from anywhere between 10 hours - 20 hours on the dyno have been given. Buy yourself a wideband, get a few good books on tuning (i'm currently reading the hayes one), and read all you can on the AEM forumns.
