Default RC 440cc injectors...ECU BLINKING???

I just installed my 440 injectors and my car idles like **** and ecu spits code for misfire in all cylinders and engine check light blinks at idle. I'm using a vafc, airtex inline fuel pump, and vortech 4:1 fmu. I'm running 7psi rite now also. I set the vafc down -50% at 1000 and 2000 rpm in both narrow and wide open throttle. Has anyone used 440cc injectors with a apexi vafc?? If so can i get the settings of ur vafc??? THANx

btw..its a b16a2 motor.

too much fuel and fuel pressures. since you got the 440's you should check out the afc hack.

ur injectors are too big to idle right with the inline and fmu.

If he's already at -50% on his VAFC and idling poorly, the hack won't help him any.

Are the injectors brand new? If so, try turning off the inline fuel pump and see if that helps any. Often with an inline running, the stock FPR is not capable of keeping idle pressure low enough. You have no reason to run an inline pump with 440 injectors; I would consider either running off the stock pump alone or put an upgraded in-tank pump in place.

what i meant was that he'd have to lose the inline and fmu. but i think he would want to run the afc a little richer than the guys running 450cc injectorssince hes got 440's.

fuel pressure is at 44psi with vacuum line off..
what's your fuel pressure with the vacuum line ON? It's quite possible that your fpr (what kind is it?) can keep pressures down to 44psi but not much lower than that.

w/ vacuum on it was 40psi(i just checked). And, if i take that inline fuel pump off..would i be capable of 10psi w/ the afc hack or would i need the inline pump? Thanks

i think you would need an high flow intank pump

Would it be ok to just leave the inline pump on and not get a intank pump then?
Sorry for so many questions...it just that i cant afford anything rite now cuz of my credit card debts.

or can i just boost 8psi w/ no inline and stock intank.

You should double check everything again.

In my situation, Im running 450cc injectors, holley intank, super FMU (7:1), and a VAFC.

Narrow throttle setting are about -25% (about this number all the way through except a little richer at top) and about in -15% (avg. except up top....a little richer again).

Never really had idle problems....just recheck everything over.

This topic has been around.....that guy dustin (the moderator) runs a 12:1 fmu, stock injectors boosting well over 10 psi on a stock fuel pump....hahaha....just kidding...that is an ingredient on blowing motors.

Just play around with it more, Im sure it will do fine.

Im just waiting for Geoff to come back from AZ to help me with the VAFC hack.....but so far no problem with the regular setup.

better yet... take that VAFC off and put back your stock injectors and youll be running on the band aid system. hey... it works...

When you reset the ECU, does it still do it? If you didn't reset it, I would think the ECU would freak out

Sounds to me like it's the inline pump. Run with it off and you should be fine with the 440's and AFC. Get yourself a walbro intank and have fun

First off, aren't there two different versions of 440's...Saturated and Peak-Hold, right? I was under the impression that you can get them in both flavors, however, he does not state what he's running. Is this my mis-conception or does this question really need to be asked?

He's running an ECU that requires the use of Saturated injectors (or Peak-Hold w/ resistor box).

Again, perhaps I missed something, but could it be that he's running P-H's without a resistor box on a Saturated type ECU? I can see this causing a problem for sure.

Just an idea.

Thanks guys for all the feedback.

EE_Chris, they are saturated...but that was a good thought. Maybe importparts could've messed up my order and gave me Peak and hold?? How can u tell the 2 apart?

Anyways, i took the inline pump off andi t still idled shitty. I dunno wut da hell is going on. The engine check light still blinks at idle and the rpms jumps from 500 to 1000rpms in idle. The intake mani pressure on the vafc stays pretty high up also at idle.

I'm thinking of just taking those damn injectors out and putting my stock ones back in.

Well..thanks for the info.
