STOCK
seen it on every setup including many 10sec 1/4 cars. With the proper preloading you shouldn't break axels very often, 99% of the time it is due to driver failure
I would much rather break an axel than a transmission. 10 minutes and you are back up and running. Not to mention many places offer lifetime warranty on their axels, so it wont cost you a dime to replace it

More 10 second cars are running upgraded axles than stock axles.
There are cars making 600whp on stock sleeves too but that doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Thanks, was about to link that thread up
Like I was saying, I'd much rather break an axel than a tranny....go waste your money on "racing axels" if you want, but I think its a waste for most every setup and makes you take more of a chance on tranny failure.

OEM stock axles ( Not re-mans) work very well. I would recomend upgrading the axles for over 300whp, It's easier than waiting for the tow truck at the track.

anyone that goes to the track would have a spare set ANYWAYS.... or they are stupid.. no matter what axels you run, you can break them..
I didnt break one axel last year launching 7 grand with slicks.. and I had one OEM and one Refurbished axel....
either way, I have lifetime warranty, and 3 SETS... so you break 2 on one side and then you are done for the day....
Id rather snap an axel then a diff or a tranny period.....

my thoughts exactly.
I will be running oem's and keeping a backup set ready. I would rather not frag a transmission and/ or possibly an expensive diff... better an axle.

Re: (turb20_vtec)
as i said in one of the three threads there are on this in the recents, i hate fixing stuff between rounds. if you are using the axle as a fuse thats fine. but to me if it is built right, you are either making too much power for what you have or you arent driving correctly.
stock axles or not, i spent the loot on the dss 5.9's. i dont want to have that issue.

Man U FTW
I have to agree w/ everyone so far...i had this same question when i built my first setup and i went w/ the advice given to me. I bought 2 AutoZone replacement axles w/ lifetime warranties. That way if they break, i get another one free!!
The main point people had when i asked the questions is "what would you rather break, an axle or your tranny?" The obvious answer is an axle...this is why i left that as my weak point in the system.
With proper preloading i dont see why anyone would ever have a problem....

Re: (powerdbygarrett)
hold the ebrake or use a staging brake. let the clutch out until you feel it start to engage and pull the car a little then hold it right at that point. then rev to your launching rpm and wait for the light. take off the brake as you let the clutch all the way out.
the 1 time i didn't do this is the 1 time i broke an axle...
