Default quick sohc question

just curious to know, how much boost can a d16z6 hold without blowing. Stock block no internals, no tuning, just stock d16z6 and a turbo kit. how much is safe and reliable to run on that motor.

and also how much stronger do stock pistons and rods get when they are shot peened, or what ever its called. thanks in advance

Well to answer your first question you can't really ask how much boost and engine can hold, a better question is how much horsepower it can hold because 10 psi on a t25 is not the same power as 10 psi on a t3/t4.

With our single slammers the gen hp rating is around 200-250whp, with 250 pushing it. These numbers are based on "A GOOD TUNE"!!! Without tuning then don't expect much out of any non-turboed factory engine.

About the shot peening I know they increase the engine rod's stress levels but I don't know the effect on pistons.

You don't shotpeen pistons, period. And shotpeening a stock sohc rod will net you negligable gains in strength.

Actually with 5 psi and no tune the car is going to be pretty slow and shitty. So might as well skip turbo all together if you're not going to do it right.

An untuned car wont be reliable. An untuned/basemap car should be carefully driven straight to the tuner, or if you must drive it then you should try to stay out of boost for the motor's sake.
