Quick 2.5" exhaust ?
Okay I'm going to be running a 2.5" dp on a T3 setup. Right now I have a 2.25" exhaust. I know I will have to go bigger or it will bottle neck which is a big no no. I also have to run some sort of muffler to keep the exhaust quiet under 2k rpm because of noise ordinace in the community I live in. I was thinking of going 2.5 from the DP back but maybe going with 3" after the axle or right after the S curve. My questions are what can I use to keep the noise quiet and also the exhaust exits on the passenger side for better flow so there isn't much room to work with. Please help me out!
This is how the exhaust is ran but with a stock style muffler not the can.

No it has never been on a dyno. I don't have the turbo on yet i'm just getting all of the stuff together so I can do it all at once and do it the right way.

There is such thing as a quiet 3" exhaust...Use a resonator or 2, or if you want to use a cat, use a 3" hi flow cat and 1 resonator and muffler at the end. Check into some kind of muffler like a magnaflow or the apexi world sport turbo muffler.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by miller »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">If you are going to go turbo just put a 3" or bigger on there from the get go. </TD></TR></TABLE>that is going in my sig and no you don't need a 3'' exhaust unless your planning on making over 300whp.what i'm going to do on my ef hatch is have a 2.5"down pipe with a 2.5"cat-back,so maybe if used a that with a 2.25 muffler that would keep the sound down some and shouldn't be to restrictive. but it never hurts to search around here and hmt.com to get some better answers good luck with it.

If you put all of that 2.5" stuff and then ran a 2.25" muffler wouldn't it restrict flow like crazy at the end and cause all sorts of back pressure. And like I said it only has to be quiet under 2k rpms. I was looking at the Tanabe Medalion Concept G but they only make them in a system and I don't have that kind of money.

I would suggest getting a 180* bend and a straight-through resonator. Put the resonator in the stock horizonal muffler position, and let the fart can you have exit out the passenger side. You really don't see much restriction from the longer exhaust, esp if you instead switch to a baffled muffler to keep that shorter run.

I don't have the Can anymore, I have a stock style universal muffler. I may use a resonator but if I do it will be under the car in the tunnel.
