Default Question's on engine build...

How do I go about...

-Determing exactly what Bore piston I should buy? Is it safe to say that a low mileage ZC is going to need the stock 75mm bore?

-Determining what size berrring's I need. Do I use the old berring's with my new Crower's and do the whole plastigauge thingy?

-How do I tell if a Water pump need's replacing(with out running the motor)
-" same question "....Oil pump.

-Do I need to replace the Crank Thrust berring's?

I feel confident in most of the awnser's to those question's, but I just want to make sure, and also get some opinion's/experiences.

Thank's for any help

you might as well replace the water pump and oil pump unless this motor is mint.

i would replace the water pump, and get new bearings. you will have to size the bearings correctly, yes...i don't know if its the same on that motor but on my b18c1 there are codes on the block and on the crank which tell you which size bearings you need...then when you reassemble you need to platiguage them to make sure the tolerances are correct. and i'd get a new oil pump gear...prodrive if they make em for that motor.

thrust washers are cheap, replace them too. also, depending on how old this motor is, you shoudl consider doing the timing belt, upper and lower gaskets and seals, etc etc.

well this is a FULL rebuild. so I'm going to replace any thing that should be replaced while the engine is out.

I think I am going to take my time and tolerance everything...instead of just using the code's fallowed up with plastigage.

Anyone have problem's with lot's of HP...caused by using just normal code/plastigauge techniques?

Yes, go with stock bore.

Read the marks on the crank, and cross reference with the sizing of your rods for the rod bearings. Main bearings, you can probably just buy the colors that are already in the block. Plastigauge everything.

Just replace the water pump. Oil pump is probably fine.

-Do I need to replace the Crank Thrust berring's?
They're probably ok.
