Questions about JRSC
Can someone give me a crash course on a JRSC. I'm looking to get one for my daily driver. I looked online and a site had it for $3295 with free JR fuel pump, Autometer Boost Gauge and A/F gauge plus free shipping. Is that a good price or can I get better. Would I need to upgrade anything else to?
How does the gauges work and how would you go about adjusting the results.
I was told by two local shop to get JRSC over turbo because it has more usable power for my setup.
I have a 94 ls teg, oh yeah it's an automatic.

I thnk tahts about average for a new one.. I heard somewhere that they raised the prices some. As far as the supercharger on a car.. well i rode in a jrsc GSR and it was pretty crazy... not sure on an LS though....
if you want relativly hassle free forced induction.. you can't go wrong really... and the instant response of the supercharger is crazy.. get ready for instant wheelspin.
air/fuel bounces back and forth.. the only time you have to stress it, is when your at WOT and if it dips into the low yellow/red area.. you want it a little into the green.
don't worry about supercharger/turbo on an auto.. i understand some of the fastest cars are automatics (supras in fact)...
if you dont want relativly hassle free.. nothing wrong with a jrsc..
i almost wish i was supercharged when it comes time for smog inspection

JR raised the price for prelude superchargers to $3900.
definately the FI route you wanna take for a daily driver. the proportion of turbo guys to supercharged guys that have blown their engine is too much. i've considered the fact that more hondas are turbocharged than supercharged and from my own research, the results are the same. guys boostin 10+psi on a daily basis = time to get a new engine, fast. at least with the JRSC you're relatively limited to how much you can boost. not to mention, no lag, power is there right away which will definately be useful for everyday use.
get colder plugs, intake, header, and a free flowing exhaust with no less than 2.5" piping, and a v-afc. everthing else (fuel pump, fpr, ems/fmu) should come with the kit if i remember right. the jrsc is designed to run on stock engine components and stock ignition, but upgrading those won't hurt. dont' forget to dyno tune your car.

oh yea, and I have an automatic too, dialy driver no beater here, and I'm no mechanical genuis. I had the kit installed, only things that are a little annoying is a leaky oil return line... and thats about it. No maintenance yet, and NOTHING done to my auto... all stock internals and stock auto.
Think about what you want for your car before you go FI..... if you want alot of power, then turbo is your bet..... if you want a peppier car that drives like a v-6 n/a then a jrsc is probably better for you.
Basically I use my car to drive to and from work. I never race and do not intend to. I barely ever hit 80 mph except on highway and most of my driving is on local streets. I really don't know how long a turbo takes to spool but the shops I spoke told me I would never use the power cause most likely I be at a red light so that why they recommended a jrsc.
So does anyone know how to read the gauges and how to control? Also do you know any good online shops or even shops in NY that has jrsc for cheap?

All JR superchargers went up about $150.00 this year. I have a 99 Civic SI with a JRSC running 6 PSI and have extreme amounts wheelhop and wheelspin so be prepared to spend some money on a very good suspension as well. I have a set of Eibach lowering springs right know and fixing to buy some adjustable struts, motor mounts, and suspension mounts. As far as everyday driving goes it drives like a normal car unless you are in the throttle at all times, so a supercharger is definitely better than a turbo for everyday driving purposes.

makes great power, but is limited in boost and lack of intercooler. SCHYBRID has a custom IC and is running a total of 16psi... which amazes me cuz I didnt think it was possible to boost so high and not kill the blower. He should be running 11's or so. The point I am making is that you take care of the heat issue and you will make great power, contrary to popular Turbo **** belief. otherwise, a stock kit will suffice, however you will need at least a cold air type intake of some sort and the stock intake will not work. I recommend a comptech ice box intake to go along with it. Despite heat, its still, IMO, more reliable than any other option besides just bolting on a intake, header, and exhaust.
if you want real power or dont know how much you want, get a turbo.

I already have aem cold intake with bypass value as well as dc sport header and g power exhuast. I'm riding on kyb with neuspeed sport srings. Motor mounts? I need that if if SC.
Well I wanted to go turbo but like I said before two shops I spoke to advise not to do it unless I'm gonna convert auto to stick, so I guess I'm sticking with a sc.

The bypass valve on your intake will need to be removed. A guy at AEM and JR both told me not to run the bypass valve because the supercharger will break the plastic on the inside of the valve and suck it into the motor(not good). So I don't know if that is true but both companies told me the same thing I am not running a bypass valve.

SIBOOSTED:
Where can I pick up one of those? By the way what did you have to buy beside getting the jrsc itself. If I go FI do I need to upgrade my brakes or can I keep it stock.

I love my JRSC and have had it since Novemer of 1998. As you can see below, I have a GSR and from what I understand, the LS kit has some shortcomings related to the smaller capacity blower size. If you are seriously interested in the JRSC, check out:

That board has a lot more JRSC info. (nothing against everyone here
) There is a lot of people with major experience in tinkering with the JRSC.
Check with JRcivic regarding kit parts and prices. His experience is virtually second to none.

You can get one from pretty much any parts place. If you can't find one I can get you one I just need to know what color and the diameter of your intake pipe(2.5 or 3.0). I had to modify my intake because the throotle body is moved on a SI when you put a supercharger on it, so I had to cut my intake pipe to make it fit. As far as the JRSC kit, it should come with everything you will need to put it on.
