Default Question for you guys

I was wondering how long you turbo guys let your car warm up for before driving? Do you guys go by the temp gauge or just give it 5 min? I normally give it 5 min. but its been cold as all hell lately and thats not long enough to move the temp. gauge, so I waited longer till it did. I want to make sure I'm not sitting in the car longer for no reason, neighbors already look at me like I'm nuts in the morning, only guy in San Diego they've seen warming up a car.

i think 5 minutes should be ok to drive, as long as you keep the rpms under 3000 before normal temperatures

Thats what I was thinking, but everyone always told me that it was a horrible thing to drive a FI car before its at temp. I just wanted to see how you guys who've had a turbo longer than me (3 months) warm up your cars. Thanks for the reply.

It only take a few seconds for the oil to really get to all the vital parts of your engine. I would just let it warm up for about two minutes, then just stay out of boost until your at operating temps.

I can't imagine that it makes a difference either way.

You dont have to let an N/A car warm up, so why would you on an F/I car? I dont see how it could make a difference to the turbo, and nothing else in the turbo system is effected by oil...

Its easier for me to give it a few extra minutes to warm up in the morning than it is for me to drive slow first thing in the morning. I'm normally excited to be behind the wheel again every morning, and those first few blocks from my house to the highway are just made for flying. Thanks for the feedback though.
