Default Question for Drag owners...

I am trying to decide between a Greddy and a Drag III kit for my civic. I would love to get the Drag, but because of emissions I might settle with the Greddy. For those that have the Drag, is there any other way than to take out the turbo kit everytime you go in for emissions testing?

I have a Drag Kit on my B18c1 and I passed without taking it out. I just leaned out the fuel prior to going in and hoped to god he didn't visually check the car.

I've been told that the "external" wastegate will be a problem, because it's exposed to the atmosphere. Is that right?

The external wastegate's dumptube dumping exhaust into the air if it's an open system + the blow off valve. (Yes, the blow off valve is just air, but they want it so that it blows back into the intake, not into the atmosphere).

Sorry, I am new to turbos. Is there a way to temporarily fix that just for the emissions test? If so, how would you do it?

Last time I went, I passed everything, and then some dick said "Hey that looks like some kind of turbo. Hey integras never had turbo!!" And then the superviser said that even though I am running perfectly leagle as far as emmissions goes, any sort of addition to your exhaust is considered illeagal. Be it the damn turbo or the downpipe. So basically as long as u have a Cat on you will pass, but as soon as they see the manifold or any part of the turbo, your screwed.

Well, I have a friend that knows of a guy that will pass me for sure w/o hassle, but wants $250. That will probably be my solution if I get the Drag.

haha for realz.. i think 250 is a little steep, we can pay someone off for 50 bucks in texas but i guess in cali they can get more money.. id say go with drag and pay the guy 250$ the power will be worth it

wouldnt it be funny if there was a Federal Bureau of Illegal Smog Investigations tracking everyones illegal smog certificate right now as you mention how much you pay to get your illegal smogs done. hahah

Our emmision standards here are as strict as in Ca, and the office at the emmisions testing said as long as the car passes, they wont hassle me about the turbo. I still plan to ask again right before i have to get emmisions which will be in december.

Who exactly is a refferee and how do they get involved?
