Default Question about sleeved block

I'm looking to buy a sleeved block, just wondering if this block has really been sleeved or not. He says its aebs sleeved but it doesnt look like any aebs sleeves Ive ever seen. Its supposed to be 81mm and this is supposed to be the pictures of the O ringed sleeved.

I'm just wondering if this is worth while or not.

Thanks for your alls time,
dk

looks like it's re-sleeved and has o-rings.

looks like a darton straight sleeve. AEBS usually uses a closed deck design. but i could be wrong.

that doesn't even look like darton let alone aebs. it looks like stock sleeve with an o-ring.

It looks sleeved and o-ringed to me, and I've only heard of T-sleeves (closed deck) from AEBS, so possibly Darton or another open-deck sleeve. I'd buy it if the price was right, but I wouldn't spend crazy $ on a used sleeved block.

EDIT - The reason that I say sleeved is because stock sleeves do not have a line between the sleeves, it is a single casting that thin OEM sleeves are pressed in to, like this:

The OP's picture looks just like an old block of mine that was sleeved by RS Machine, except mine did not have the machined groove for the o-ring.

if it were me i wouldnt buy anyting unless someone can provide me some documentation on who did the work and what parts were used. its too easyt o rip someone off these days and anyone can tell you a stock sleeved block is sleeved with "brand x" sleeves. get documentationa nd receipts then worry about buying it...or ave yourself the headache and just get your own block sleeved and you will know its done right

I'm trying to get more answers out of the owner, he said he bought it from a friend that bought it at a 'apex' sale.. I'm thinking I can get this for under 600. I just don't want to make a stupid mistake or have something with sunkin sleeves or something that wont hold 25psi or so.

$600 seems a little steep for a used block, I think RS used to put in those open deck sleeves for $400-$500 for their resellers (I am not a reseller, so that information is second hand at best). It's easy enough to check the sleeves for sinking though, you just need a straight edge and a thin feeler guage. I'd check it out and offer 350-400 for it at most. Like the GE guy said, for a few hundred more you can get a fresh block with a receipt and a warranty.

good point, I guess if I can get it for under 400 I'll pick it up anything more Ill wait and get ge to do it.. question on GE, it says 1 year war. on sleeve sinking. Does this mean after a year my sleeves are going to sink? Thats the only reason why I havent had you all [ge] sleeve one already. Thanks for your alls time.

If it hasn't sunk after a year, then it's probably not going to. the ones that I've seen sink do it right away.

x2 looks like Bensons or RS.. still good though. if you get it for anything less than 500 bucks i'd say its a good deal.
