Default Question about a fitting on intercooler piping.

I have a fitting on my intercooler piping and was wondering if i could hook that up to my wastegate as a vac source because i don't have one on my compressor housing. I've seen this done on my friends sr20det swap in his 240.

Do you guys know what im talking about, if not I can get pictures.

usually people hook them up to a source from the intake manifold if not the turbo. but i dont see why the pressure would be any different between the piping and manifold.

Took me a couple of times reading it. At first I thought you meant silicon couplers. But you mean the barbed hose fittings that the vaccum lines hook to, right?
I think this should be fine. People say to take the wg reading from the manifold. So that the wg wont get its reading until the boost is finished making the trip through the system and go through the pressure drop. I personally hooked the wg up from both the manifold and directly from the compressor and havent seen a huge difference. Maybe on on cars running boost in excess of 10 psi you would notice, but i dont think it matters for lower boost applications.

Understood.. I won't be running more than 6-7lbs on my stock motor. Thanks for the clarification.

this was not true in my case. my intercooler gave me a 2psi pressure drop... which meant that when i had the vacuum hose going from the turbo housing to the wastegate (all before the intercooler of course) it would open at 5.5psi which in reality was really 3psi. by connecting the vacuum line to a source in the intake manifold... i achieved 5psi... so as long as its after the intercooler (if you have one) its okay is my guess.

note: if i had a boost controller, it would of been okay to of left the vacuum line on the turbo housing... but i did not have one and dont want one... for fear of turning up the boost.

Yeah I have an intercooler... when you mean anything after the IC.. do you mean like besides the compressor housing to the WG?

engine - manifold - turbo - intercooler... from after the intercooler to the intake manifold. it should be around there to compensate for the pressure drop caused by the intercooler.

That looks like my pipes that I sold couple month ago. That barb is for Greddy profec B boost controller. To use the greddy profec on Honda turbo application, you must hook one of the vaccuam to a source before the throttle body. I choose the same identical place.
