Question about Cometic gasket and copper spray
I just bought a Cometic head gasket 84mm .051 thickness and I was wanting to know if you can spray a copper coating on the hg like you would with a golden eagle hg? Cometic says that they have a rubber like coating on both sides of the gasket but didn't know if that would be good enough for sealing purposes? thanks

Re: Question about Cometic gasket and copper spray
I didnt use any copper spray on my .060 81.5mm gasket and it has about 6000 miles on it so far with no leaks, or overheating problems.

Re: Question about Cometic gasket and copper spray
I work at a Honda dealer and I have put on copper spray on all headgaskets since 1990 (metal) and I used it on my boosted integra and I have over 60K on it.

Re: Question about Cometic gasket and copper spray
no I had a blown headgasket, hopefully that's all it was. Took the head of to get checked and came back good with vaccum and surface. But they noticed that it looked like the piston was hitting the head, possible too much taken off of the block. That's why I got this gasket. Tomarrow I'm taking my head back to the head place to have them open up the chamber to 84mm and to deshroud the valves a little bit. Hopefully these things will help with the problems I was previously having. I'm waiting on the injector dynamics injectors to show up. So it should hopefully be up and running by next week. Also sold my used slicks and getting new ones. Just have to light a fire under someones *** to get moving on getting parts in. lol
