Default Purge control valve

I have a turbo civic and I do not have a purge control valve. Do I need it? If so, why?

its the valve that purges the fumes from the gas tank into the throttle body. depending on emmision laws in your state, you might need it. personally i like it whether its needed or not, because i dont like my engine bay smelling like gas from the fumes. plus thats an engine fire waiting to happen.
