Default PT61?

i did some search's for info on PT61's....and i just found some older threads..like back when 67mm was a BIGGGG turbo for hondas, haha. the rest were just f/s threads...

but, i'm looking to run one on an H2B setup (drop ins, type S cams, RM valvetrain, etc..) and i'm kinda wondering which one i should go for.

this is a street car, with rare trips to the drag strip. Spool doesn't hvae to be fast, i am going ot be running a t4 after all, but i want good top end with enough turbo to hit 600whp possibly.

so...any help is appreciated

They make a Tangential housing no problem, I would do a .68 A/R turbine housing or if you are gonna rev that big boy go to an .84 A/R BUT the .68 should spool well and still give good top end too. If you are interested in one also let me know, I will give you a good Christmas special price on it

Will the PT61 make 600whp? Would a pt67 be a better choice?

A PT61 will make 600whp no problem especially in T4 form

Great turbo. Have seen it make 640whp and a little more on two different setups.

67mm is more than i want/need.

i figure i'll MAX at 600whp...like 500 or so on pump, maybe...but more than likely liek 425ish on pump, whatever it takes to get the cou[e in teh 10's, and then have a little left over for some pump 110 (yep...we get pump 110 around here)

but, is the .68 in tang a special order, or will it be the same price. I figured it wouldn't be too hard, since the hot side wheels shouldn't be that different....but i WANT an S cover with it.

oh, and do they come standard 3" V-band?

Thanks for clearing that up. I haven't seen many make 600+ thats why I asked and the precision guy recomended me the 67 but, my set up will actually benifit from the 67 for my use.

nice...congrats on the numbers

my setup is going to look similar to yours with a few small changes

couple questions, if you don't mind...
1. did you take the plate out of the manifold? my friend jason, Jdogg, really suggest i do this..just wondering if anyone's got some dyno's of it.

2. did you kill the balance shafts, and if you did...did you do the belt or the whole thing?

3. what did you end up doing with the ignition? that's one part i haven't really put a lot of thought into. I was going to stay Crome...but i think i'd have to get a DIS-4 (msd just plain sucks) or an M&W box (hella money) to run COP....but i don't wanna spend the money on an EMS either. I guess i'll just have to see what i can do with an aftermarket coil for now...and wait to see what some of you other guys are doing before going for 450whp or more on pump...

A good engine management system is HANDS DOWN the most important part, and should be the FIRST thing you spend money on.

A 61 will make 600whp, but might be out of its eff range.
I have a 61 with an S cover, 70back side with split housing and tang.
Its supposed to be a sick street turbo for Supras. I am sure it will be great for Hondas too. I ran a 67 on my Type R and that was nasty as hell and spooled pretty quick.

Presicion told me id be lucky to even get 500whp out of a 61mm. BoostedHybrid made like 630whp on the same turbo as mine on a civic at 30psi.

Yeah Precision also told me the PT67 was way too big for my lil bitty B16A Precision is great but they do UNDERRATE there turbos as well as Garrett WHICH Precision uses all Garrett CHRA and compressor & turbine wheels with their own Cast Precision turbine and compressor housings and backplates.

Exactley...I run the AFC hack with an FMU, and I push my PT61 to 32psi, and my fuel pressure is only at 230psi at full boost, but I think I had better switch out my stock fuel pump and the 280cc's just so I can turn up the boost a bit more since I am switching to a GT47r .

LOL! Actually back in 2001 or so I had 370cc injectors with an FMU with 8:1 rise rate and ran 20psi, also used an even more outdated Fields VTEC/Fuel controller which could control +/- 30% fuel BUT did not have settings for low and high throttle. I made 320whp tuning that set up hehe

ok...so S or E cover? that's really about all i lack

and...if it comes down that i can't make AT LEAST 450whp on pump...then i'll put a ls/vtec in the car..but i'd like to try it with an H22...

I think the main reason in precision recomending me the 67 was when they asked me what the engine can rev to. A great guy named Brad did the head along with a few other mods made me decide to go to the 67 as well.
