Default Problem with ECU: Solid CEL?

My CEL came on this morning when I started my car. When I tried to pull the code, no blinks, solid CEL? I thought this was limp mode, but I ran the car it it's fine? No Limp mode, my VTEC works, my IAB's work...what's going on?

when you turn the ignition key on (but dont start the car) does the cel go on for a sec and go off? Or just stay on? If it stays on that usually means bad ECU.

Try taking out the backup fuse though and clearing it out.

It comes on, turns off, then when I start the car i get a CEL. now, when I try to pull the CEL by jumping the service connector, it stays on instead of flashing me a code..

Okay, so new developments. I soldered on my TTL to USB adapter onto CN2 and logged all my sensors. VSS, TPS, RPM, o2, MAP sensors all check in as functional. VTEC engages, IAB's engage, Rev limits are good.

What is goin on? I found out a solid cel means Bad ECU? If my ECU is supposedly dead, why is everything functioning? i've reset the code twice, and it comes back on when I fire her up....

It's complicated. Well, really it isn't.

If you get a solid CEL and jump the connector, and it is solid, that means bad ecu.
If you get no solid CEL, and jump the connector, and THEN get a solid CEL, that means everything is ok.

So If you get an unjumped solid cel, don't turn the car off. Jump it, and read the codes without turning the ignition off.

Intermittant running codes may get reset when you turn the car off, hence getting a "NO CELs" solid CEL.

sorry for bringing back such an old post but did you ever find the answer or solution to your solid cel problem? i'm having this same problem but dont know what it is.

Hondata s200b
usdm p28
no limp mode

everything runs fine, just like it did before chipping the ecu with hondata. the only thing is that it has a solid CEL when i jump the connector. we also tried a known good ECU and still same thing. its been like this since July 04. anybody have any suggestion?

I've got the same problem too.. my hondata tune is actually from a p72, but my p72 took a dump... I swapped the hondata chip into a chipped p28 to start my gsr.. I"ve got a solid CEL too now, and it stays solid even if i try to pull the codes.. what gives??

solid cell means ecu is bad or chip is bad.
