What are some basic things to do to your engine to prepare it for boost?

All stock blocks can take some boost. You have to tell which engine you've got and what your hp goals are.

250whp is easily achievable with a b18a. Here are a few things I would do prior to boosting:

-Check Compression in all cylinders(make sure they are all consistent and normal).
-Replace distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, & run NGK Bkr7e spark plugs.
-Run Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil if you are not already.
-Run oem honda oil filters if you are not already.

Thats what I did atleast. I hope this helps.

geting 250 out of a b16 is not to hard all you need is to pick a good kit
and make shure you have good fuel and timing and one thing for you to take
in to mind is a motor with higher compresion will make more power with less
boost so lets think you have 160hp now 90hp more easy and if your talking
250whp then all you'd need is about 120bhp more still not a problem with a
good boost contoler and remember to get a turbo timer it will save you life
