Default Precision Turbos

I've been doing a little reading on Precision turbos lately, trying to decide whether to go w/ my T3 .60 .48 for my 300whp build on my 99 d16y8, or find a precision turbo. What size Precision would be best for that goal? I know I've seen and read numerous posts about "what turbo for my set up?" a million times, but I've seen alot of good things from precision turbos. What makes them put out better numbers?? I'd like to get my hands on one that would have good response and semi quick spooling for 300whp.

As far as sizes, I've seen sc32, sc40, sc44, and so on. If someone could clarify the sizes for me that would be a start. thanks

for what you are trying to do go with a Sc-32. I would also highly recomend calling them. I told them what motor i had, my goals, set up, etc, and they will tell you what exact turbo to get. HIGHLY RECOMEND them.

Hrm...im gonna disagree with that. Id get a SC50 over a SC32 - its going to spool faster, and support *almost* the same power. The 50trim is prolly the best trim outa the t3/t4 lineup.

Other options you might want to think about is a gt28rs, it will spoolup even quicker and support your 300whp. If you wanted something a little bigger, you might want to think about a gt2871r (it can do almost 400whp at full tilt.)

I've looked the gt28r route already. I can't come across one for a decent price. everyone wants an arm and a leg for one even with a bunch of miles. So I decided to get a T3 .60 .48 for the time being, and then hopefully come across something down the road. I'd sure love to get a gt28r, but your saying a sc50 would be pretty good?? I'll have a t3 manifold externally gated, and that would bolt right up to my manifold?? Also, are the DP flanges the same possibly as T3's?

i think the sc50 with .63a/r is great for the d series
My car 15-16 psi

now this isn't a great comparison but here is Boltz's car
sc32 .63a/r 17 psi

you can clearly see a huge power difference in the midrange... look right at AND before 5252 rpm

Have to agree with the 50 trim unit. Especially if you are considering a new Garrett BB center section. The new "Real" BB Garrett units will provide an exceptionally crisp throttle responce. This will greatly improve your applied power to the wheels from the reduced turbo lag on gear changes

uhm... nothing! they are the same as a garret accept for the 360degree thrust bearring on the cheapest t3t4 version

No way dude, for only 300whp go with the SC50. No need to go any bigger for what he's trying to do. The SC50 can support up to 400whp.

Supposably the housings are slightly more efficient.

anyone got an sc50 they are looking to get rid of?? Would a t3 downpipe 5 bolt pattern bolt up to it?? The exhaust housing would be on the drivers side.

Couldn't help but hijack this thread. The GT28R is an exceptional turbo, but they're not as expensive as you think (figure $775.00). The GT28RS makes more hp and it's over $1,000. You can check out the specs at http://www.turbobygarrett.com.

On the SC50, you can now get these in either a 4 or 5-bolt discharge so you have more flexibility with your downpipe arrangement. The new ball bearing deal is an exceptional deal . . . but they will be going up in price once this introductory special is gone.
